Curb appeal is what sets your home apart from the neighbors when people drive by, it’s the first thing you look at when you come home after a long day’s work, and it’s what potential buyers will see if you are looking to sell. Curb appeal is important! What’s even better? You can level up on your home’s curb appeal, and increase the value of your home, with these quick and easy (and inexpensive!) tips.
Refresh that front door
This is a tiny change that will bring some huge value to your home. If you have a nice and sturdy front door, add a fresh coat of paint to it and your entire home will look new with this small change without breaking the bank. With the money you saved by painting the door, why not get some new funky house numbers to complete the look?
Mow your lawn
This is a no brainer, but it is amazing how many lawns are lacking in fresh green grass or are overflowing with so many weeding and overgrown grass that your home looks like a jungle! Tend to your lawn by watering regularly and keeping it manicured.
Plant a garden...and tend to it
Beautifully colored flowers brings any home alive when planted and cared for correctly. This may seem like a huge project, but you’d be amazed at how many flowers and plants are available that need minimal to no maintenance. Same as your lawn, you’ll need to do the basics, but the benefit of driving up to a beautiful home - and the added value to your home - makes this project well worth it.
Clean up the outside
We all do our best to ensure the inside of our home is both clean and organized, but what about the inside? Pressure wash those panels to get off any dirt or dust that has collected to keep your curb appeal top notch and a home the whole family can be proud of. You can easily rent a pressure washer for a couple hours for cheap at your local hardware store.
Hide the garbage
After the amount of work you’ve done to spruce up the lawn and pressure wash those beautiful panels, the last thing you want to do is tarnish the look of your home with garbage for everyone to see. Even if you simply put the garbage off to the side of your home (possibly hidden by one of those low maintenance plants), you will have a home that’s garbage free!
Update your light fixtures
If you have the exact same light fixtures the home came with when you bought it 10+ years ago...it may be worth your while to update those. Outside light fixtures are low in cost and can add a great look and feel to your home and - along with that door and house numbers - can give you a chance to express your individual style for everyone to see.
